There are things I’d like to talk about
But it seems they are hot topics
Just a word, and people begin to charge
No looking, just charging forward with
Vile vitriol and prideful generalizationsThere are things I’d like to talk about
But I haven’t figured out where I stand
And so I wrestle and toss around
Sleepless nights and anxious days
Wondering where the Truth isControversy sells and these days
It seems that people care more
About the controversy than about people
Real live, flesh and blood
Forgotten, bruised, battered, forsakenAnd Faith, the most abused reason
For all our heartlessness
Blown out of proportion, misquoted, misused
Thrown in the face of the oppressed and marginalized,
Faith takes the biggest hit of allThere are things I’d like to talk about
I wonder how to begin
When the wounded cry out for justice
When the broken and lost weep
It comes to me.There are things I’d like to talk about
But now I know where I stand
Controversy does not help the poor
I need to stop standing and start moving
Because Love and Faith are action words
